A Cute Christmas Craft Idea For All Ballet Fans

Decorate Your Tree with This Christmas Craft

If you know any ballet fans, this Christmas craft will be super fun and a perfect fit. It can be fun to decorate your Christmas tree with homemade decorations. If you want your tree to have a theme such as ballet, store-bought decorations can get quite expensive. Clothespins are a staple for craft fanatics, and you can fashion just about anything from clothespins including reindeers and even ballerinas! This easy Christmas craft can provide an afternoon of fun and also result in a beautifully-decorated Christmas tree.

Getting Started

For this Christmas craft project you will need old-fashioned wooden clothespins -- not the kind that contains a spring – the kind with the ball at the end. You will also need acrylic paints in pink, cream, black, brown, red, and yellow and pipe cleaners in colors that resemble skin tones because these will be used to form the arms of your ballerina. Other materials you will include pink ribbon or fabric and thread.

To make this Christmas craft begin by painting the ballerina. The top knob of the clothespin will be the ballerina’s bun. Paint this in black, brown, or yellow to resemble hair color. Continue the paint onto the top portion of the clothespin. Make the paint resemble an inverted letter “V” placing the point of the “V” in the middle of the ballerina’s head. Paint the center portion of the “V” flesh colored and also paint about a thumb-sized distance flesh colored. The remaining portion of the clothespin will be painted pink. Once the clothespin dries, add two dots for eyes and a red mouth to the face. Also add black ballet slippers near the bottom of the clothespin for the dancer’s feet. Paint both the left and right outer surfaces of the clothespin black. Make a wide “V” so that some pink shows in the middle of the black. Lightly paint a black letter “X” on top of the “V”. When finished, this will resemble a ballerina's slippers.

All you have to do is dress your ballerina and add her arms. After the paint has dried, take six inches of pipe cleaner and bend it in half until the ends touch. Glue it to the back of the ballerina to form her arms. Cut your ribbon or fabric and glue it to your ballerina. Glue it around the ballerina’s waist which is very close to where the pink paint begins. If you can sew, you can probably play around with more complicated possibilities.

Your Christmas craft is now complete. Just attach silver ornament hooks so that you can use the ballerinas to decorate your Christmas tree. This Christmas craft project is incredibly fun, especially for ballet fans. Have a blast this December by making this Christmas craft and play music from The Nutcracker while you work for an added bit of excitement.
