Holiday ornaments are a favorite craft around Christmas time. The really great thing about holiday ornaments is they are fun to make and they are useful. Holiday ornaments can be used for decorations and they make wonderful gifts and package toppers.

One of the easiest and least expensive ways to make nice, glittery holiday ornaments is to use beads. Any kind of beads can be used to make holiday ornaments.

Beaded holiday ornaments can be made by stringing beads on an actual string, yarn or fishing line. Or, if you want to be able to shape the beaded holiday ornaments, you can string the beads on wire that can be bent and twisted to make various shapes.

Candy canes, wreaths, stars and garlands are just a few holiday ornaments that are easy to make using strung beads. Really, you don’t even need a pattern. Just a few supplies and an active imagination and you’ll be able to make all different kinds of beaded holiday ornaments.

Fun Fact: Candy canes used to decorate Christmas trees were originally intended to be a symbol honoring the shepherds who were among the first to receive the news of Christ’s birth.

The holiday ornament in the picture is a wreath holiday ornament intended to hand on the Christmas tree. It also adds a touch of class when put on the top of a Christmas gift package or used to decorate a gift sack.

The wreath holiday ornament was made by stringing red and white beads on a colored plastic string. A bow made from the plastic string was added to enhance the holiday ornament.

There are many different ways you can make Christmas holiday ornaments and the whole family is sure to be happy to get in on the action! Kids really enjoy making holiday ornaments from beads.
