Bring Rudolph to Town with these Preschool Christmas Crafts!

With a little help from an adult, any child can make these preschool Christmas crafts.

Children love brightly colored paper, puppets, and all things Christmas, and these preschool Christmas crafts combine all three! A simple paper bag becomes a puppet of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for your little ones' enjoyment. You'll be amazed at how their imaginations make these simple preschool Christmas crafts come to life!

Materials

-Brown paper bags (lunch-size, one per child)
-Scissors
-Glue
-Construction paper in brown, red, yellow, and black
-White paper
-Pencils and tracers (if you want these preschool Christmas crafts to be more precise)

Make It!

Make sure the kids all have their paper bags with the floppy bottom side facing up. That's the top part of your puppet.

Help the children draw/trace and cut out:

-two round white circles for eyes
-two smaller black circles for pupils (or you can draw them on with markers)
-two brown antler shapes
-a bright red circle for a nose
-a brown strip of paper for a collar
-a bright yellow bell

Assist the children in gluing the paper onto their bags. Make sure the face gets glued on the flap on the bottom of the bag while the antlers get glued behind the bag (so they don't move when the puppet "talks"). Also make sure that the collar and bell wind up directly below the flap. You don't want them moving when your puppet talks, either!

Give the glue a few minutes to dry and then stick your hand inside. These preschool Christmas crafts make great puppets for little hands!

Other Ideas

-If you have time, why not try other puppets? Use the same principles to make Santa Claus, elves, or other reindeer. Once you finish your preschool Christmas crafts have a preschool Christmas show: let the kids act out Christmas stories with their homemade puppets!

-If you have a small enough group, give the kids paint and let them create dots and markings on their reindeer. Most preschool Christmas crafts look pretty similar, so that lets them mix it up with a little variety!

-Display your puppets on paper towel tubes. They'll stand up by themselves, and everyone can admire your preschool Christmas crafts when they walk by!
