When you make Christmas crafts, you don’t have to go with Christmas craft ideas that give you a list of things you have to buy. Often, you can come up with your very own, unique Christmas craft ideas just by taking a look around you.
I know, I know. I’m the queen of stockpiling, but I just can’t stand to see anything go to waste. Especially if it is something I can use to generate inexpensive easy Christmas craft ideas. I also can’t pass by a discount rack or sale table without browsing for things I might need some day for a quick and easy Christmas craft project.
You really can use scrap materials – just this and that – for great Christmas craft ideas. Take the picket fence Santa in the photo, for instance. When we built our fence, we had a few pickets left over. Any chunks of wood are great for Christmas craft ideas.
I used the other parts of the picket to make various wood crafts, but the top pointed parts of the pickets were just perfect for making these cute Santa wall hangings.
I painted the picket and covered the point with some felt I got from a clearance sale. That’s a cotton ball on the tip of the hat. The leftover trim from a Santa suit I made was used to trim the hat and leftover fake fur from the Santa suit’s beard was used for the beard on this Santa. Oh, and the button looking nose, it was once a peg that covered a screw hole in a piece of wood furniture I refinished.
