Supplies:
-- Small, framed chalkboard
-- Painter's tape
-- Acrylic paint & brushes
-- Scrapbook embellishments
-- Ribbon
-- Staples or glue
-- Chalk or liquid chalk
Directions:
1. Start your Christmas crafts for kids by taping off the edge of the board, so as to protect it while you paint your frame. Select the color of paint that you'd like to use on your frame. I chose red acrylic paint. Paint your frame and allow it to dry before you remove the tape. Once your paint is dry, remove the tape carefully.
2. Use your Christmas or winter-themed scrapbook embellishments to decorate the frame. I chose a vertical embellishment for the bottom of my chalkboard, and smaller, festive embellishments for the remaining edges of the board. For instance, you can use silver and white snow embellishments on a blue frame. On a red or green frame, choose a Santa, snowman, or penguin theme to make it festive.
3. Once you complete the embellishing of your board, glue or staple a 12-inch ribbon to the back, top corners of your board. This will give you a means to hang the board from a hook. Otherwise, you can prop it on a shelf, mantle, or table and enjoy.
4. Before you hesitate to try this craft because of chalk dust and the residual mess, check into liquid chalk at your local craft store. You can purchase these paint-type pens in various colors. Your kids will love them!
This is a great way to teach your younger children their numbers. They will look forward to the daily number change and will take pride in their ever-changing Christmas craft. These Christmas craft ideas for kids are simple, quick, inexpensive, and takes up very little space in storage or on display.
Enjoy the countdown and your Christmas craft for kids for years to come!
