Combine the Beauty of Nature and Christmas

Enjoy a Christmas Craft with Pinecones

Christmas is a wonderful and magical season, isn’t it? Spending time on a Christmas craft is a great way to enjoy the beauty of Christmas, but why not enjoy the beauty of nature too? The following Christmas craft allows you to enjoy all that the winter season has to offer.

Gathering Your Pinecones

For this Christmas craft project, you will need to get a few things together -- starting with the pine cones. Pine cones are abundant in certain parts of the country, so for some people this will involve nothing more than stepping outside and gathering what you find. Others can usually find pinecones at the local craft store. If you can’t find pine cones available locally, there are online retailers who sell pinecones from a vast variety of pine trees such as the Western White Pine, the Ponderosa Pine, the Scotch Pine, and the Lodgepole Pine. Pine cones are a beautiful addition to your Christmas decorating, and bringing nature indoors can create an inviting and lovely home.

Getting Started

This Christmas craft project is super easy, which can be a welcomed relief during one of the busiest times of the year. Gather up paint in white, green, and red. You should also pick up some white spray paint too, in addition to glue, glitter, and festive ribbons.

Now that you have your pinecones and your decorating supplies, there are a variety of things you can do. You can display your pinecones in their natural form inside of a glass trifle dish. Simply tie a red ribbon around the outside for a quick, decorative touch. You can also decorate your Christmas tree with the pinecones. For this, you might want to paint the pinecones with the paint you purchased -- perhaps painting the tips of each pinecone in white, red, or green. You can also put glue on the tips and shake gold, silver, red, or green glitter over the glue for a festive touch.

Tie ribbon near the top after your pinecones have dried. Then you’ll be ready to decorate your Christmas tree with your finished product. Use your imagination. There is no right or wrong way to paint and decorate your pinecones, so allow your creativity to take over.

This Christmas enjoy a craft that takes advantage of the beauty of nature and the outdoors. A Christmas craft project involving pinecones is the perfect way to celebrate nature and the Christmas season.
