Crafty Ideas for This Christmas

Five Quick Tips for This Christmas Season

There are some fun things you can do this Christmas to liven up the holidays. Christmas is a fun time of year, and the following five tips can help you if you aren’t the crafty type by nature.

1. Your Snowman Needs Some Color

Take an empty spray bottle and fill it with water and red food coloring. Take another spray bottle and do the same thing except this time use green food coloring. You can decorate your snowman or even just the snow in Christmas colors. The great thing about this Christmas craft idea is that it is incredibly easy to do, can create an hour of fun for your little ones, and it doesn’t cost very much at all. Food coloring is inexpensive, and a spray bottle costs about .99 cents. You can even recycle a spray bottle from your home such as you’re a non-aerosol hairspray bottle or a bottle from your window cleaner.

2. Birds Need to Eat Too

Another great Christmas craft idea is to make a bird feeder out of one of nature’s most beautiful “decorations” during the winter months - pine cones! Attach a long ribbon to your pine cone. Spread peanut butter over the pine cone. Next, roll the pine cone in birdseed. Hang your bird feeder outside. Make sure you get pictures of the birds stopping by to visit.

3. Modify Those Recipes

There are some easy ways to modify recipes so that you’re favorite recipes are very special for the Christmas season. When you make your usual oatmeal cookie recipe this holiday season, try substituting dried cranberries in place of the raisins. Dried cranberries add a festive touch to an otherwise basic oatmeal cookie.

4. Decorate The Goodies

You can pipe red and green food coloring onto basic brownies as well. Cut a pan of brownies into a decent size that can accommodate the shape of a Christmas cookie cutter. Next trace the outline of the cookie cutter in either green or red icing. If you don’t have time to make brownies from scratch, just buy the refrigerated brownies that are all ready to pop in the oven. If you decorate them yourself, you can get away with serving store-bough brownies.

5. Dress It Up

Incorporate as much red and green into your home this holiday season to make Christmas more fun. Definitely wear red and green in the week leading up to Christmas. Christmas shoes are always a fun choice too.
