-Stuffing or plastic "straw" to put inside the finished boxes (optional)

Make It!

1. Print off one of the free Christmas patterns for each box you plan to make.

2. Use crayons or markers (recommended) to color the boxes. This makes a great afternoon activity for kids if you're planning to make a lot of them.

3. Cut out the free Christmas patterns. If you're doing this activity with children, closely supervise this part to make sure the children cut around the flaps on the boxes. If you cut them off, you won't be able to stick your box together!

4. Fold inwards along all the dotted lines. You should be able to assemble the paper into a box. The square reading "sweet treats for you" is the lid.

5. Once you've figured out how to assemble the box, put glue on the small flaps and stick the box together. IMPORTANT: Wait for it to dry before you try to fill it!

6. Once the box has dried, it's time to stuff it. You can use your imagination for this part! Use plastic straw or white stuffing ("snow") to create a cute children's place setting, or stuff it full of jelly beans for a Christmas treat. Your kids will probably have great ideas, too!

Other Hints, Tips, and Ideas

-Print the free Christmas patterns on colored paper (especially pale green -- it's Christmas-y, but it's light enough that you'll still be able to color in the pictures). Don't use too dark a color unless you want to leave the pictures black and white.

-Print the free Christmas patterns on firmer paper to make a stronger box.

-Enlarge the free Christmas patterns on a photocopier (or on your computer) to create a gift box.
