Supplies
-- White felt (4-inch wide strip for each snowman)
-- Another colored felt for his hat - 4" x 3" piece (I'm using red)
-- 8" x 1" piece of festive fabric for his scarf
-- 1 piece of orange felt (for a tiny orange, carrot nose)
-- 10 tiny, black pon pons per snowman
-- 10" strip of thin, festive ribbon for the hanger
-- White, craft glue
-- Scissors
Directions
1. Roll your 4" piece of white felt like a jellyroll (looks like a mini roll of paper towels) and glue the end in place to secure it.
2. Fold the long side of your red (or colored) felt up on itself by 1/2" and glue in place. On the opposite end from your fold, cut 1" slices into your felt to "fray" his hat. Wrap this felt around one end of your white, jellyroll (snowman's body). The lip you created from the 1/2" fold is the rim of the snowman's hat. Be sure that is the part glued to the white felt body.
3. Tie your 10" strip of ribbon around the center of your snowman's hat (to create a beanie effect). Tie in a knot above the top of his hat (to hang him from the tree).
4. Cut a small carrot from the orange felt for the nose. Glue into place.
5. On either side of his nose, glue 2 of the tiny pon pons for the eyes. Beneath his nose, glue 5 pon pons in the shape of a smile.
6. Tie your strip of festive fabric around his "neck" and fray the ends to look like a scarf.
7. Beneath the scarf, glue the remaining 3 pon pons in a vertical line for his buttons.
Your kids will love these Christmas crafts for kids! If you prep the materials ahead of time, they will have an easier time assembling each snowman themselves -- and you won't be running around cutting felt pieces for a dozen kids at once.
