Make a Gingerbread House This Christmas Season

Christmas is Tastier When You Make a Gingerbread House

This Christmas try making the best edible Christmas craft imaginable: a Gingerbread house! Sure, you can buy a kit to make a Gingerbread house, but usually they cost quite a bit. Making a Gingerbread house is easier than it sounds, and you can make this Christmas craft to be used as a very tasty dessert.

Getting Started

To begin making a Gingerbread house you will need some ingredients. Make a list of what you’ll need for this Christmas craft so you can get all the ingredients on one trip to the grocery store. You will need graham crackers, vanilla icing, frosted shredded wheat cereal (preferably mini), a variety of candy including gumdrops, licorice, chocolate-coated candies, and even pieces of bubble gum. You will also need an old milk carton to help build your house.

Making Your House

Cut the top half off of your half gallon milk carton. Begin by “gluing” the graham crackers to the sides of your milk carton using the vanilla icing. You can use store bought icing, or you can use homemade icing. It’s entirely your choice. Place the frosted mini shredded wheat cereal on the “roof” of your house using the icing. The roof is the slanted, top portion of your milk carton. Use icing to assemble the rest of the house. “Glue” all the candies you’ve chosen to your Gingerbread house using the remaining vanilla icing. This edible Christmas craft is so much fun that you will definitely want to make more than one. Make one for yourself and another for your neighbor or a friend.

The great thing about making a Gingerbread house is that you can customize it to suit your preferences. If you really like a particular candy such as gumdrops, you can use a lot of gumdrops in all different colors. If you hate gumdrops, simply use a different candy that you like to make this edible Christmas craft.
