Make It!
These Christian Christmas crafts are deceptively easy, but they turn out wonderfully. You'll be impressed at what the kids come up with, and you might even find yourself inspired to try your own hand at an ornament or two!
First, decide on a theme. Discuss some Christian imagery with kids, including:
-candles for the light of Christ
-a wreath for a circle of unending love
-an angel for the good news
-a manger for the Christ child
-a candy cane for the shepherds' staffs (not to mention the intermingled colors of birth, purity, and blood, plus the taste of mint -- used for purification in the old testament. There's a ton of symbolism in candy canes!).
Once the kids decide on a symbol they like, cut a background of fun foam (a large circle works best). Set to work making the symbol out of another color of fun foam. Pencils don't draw well on foam, but pens work just fine. Once the symbol looks the way they want it, cut it out and paste it in the center of the circle. Punch a hole through the top and string a ribbon through to make the perfect Christian Christmas crafts and ornaments!
Other Ideas
-If your kids are a bit older, get them to try cutting two circles of fun foam -- identical sizes, but different colors. Then work on cutting a pattern out of one color. Glue it on top of the other circle, and the pattern will peek through the background!
-Use these as a starting point to discussions of other Christian symbolism, such as the cross, the dove, or the shamrock. You don't have to have specifically Christmas symbols hanging on your Christmas tree!
There's plenty of room for creativity in these fun, easy Christian Christmas crafts!
