Ready For a Family Christmas Craft?
A Fun Christmas Craft to Liven Up the Month of December
I’ve got a great Christmas craft project that will be a sure hit with your little ones (and also be fun for adult Christmas enthusiasts too). If you love Christmas and look forward to it with anticipation, you can try the following ideas for a fun Christmas craft project that will liven up the entire month of December.
Kids Love Counting Down
If your kids are constantly asking, “How many days till Christmas?” you may want to think about planning a Christmas countdown for your household. Instead of asking you how many days there are till Christmas, each and every day your kids will be counting the month down with the Christmas craft you worked on together.
The Countdown Chain
There are two ways to create a Christmas countdown. One involves creating a construction paper chain. Cut green and red construction paper into small strips. Each strip should be about 3 inches wide and about 6 inches long. The strips need to be long enough that you can loop one strip through another strip and glue it together.
Make a long chain of 25 construction paper loops. Alternate green and red when you are assembling the chain. Each day have your son or daughter cut off one link of the chain. Each day your children can see the chain getting smaller and smaller. This definitely helps demonstrate the concept of time to toddlers and preschoolers.
Picture Pages
An alternative to this Christmas craft can be to use small pictures. You can reduce a page from a Christmas coloring book to a smaller size and photocopy 25 of them. Have your children color the pages. Tape each page to the wall in a long line, and each day have your child remove one colored page. If you want to reuse the pages, simply laminate them before hanging them up. If not, you can always do this Christmas craft next year too!
A Christmas craft can be one of the most exciting ways to get ready for the holiday season. Try one of the projects above this holiday season.
