Transform Pinecones Into Christmas Crafts for Preschool!
These easy Christmas crafts for preschool turn simple pinecones into magical little elves!
It can be difficult to find Christmas crafts for preschool. Those little hands sometimes have trouble with complicated tasks, and there are only so many adults available to help out. But these cute elves make great Christmas crafts for preschool! The kids will be able to complete them with a minimum of help, and the result is an ornament to make any preschooler light up with Christmas spirit.
Materials
-Felt "hands" (cut hand shapes or mitten shapes out of red felt)
-Felt circles for feet
-Large googly eyes
-Strips of felt to use for vests
-Small pompoms
-cotton balls
-OPTIONAL: Tiny fabric "caps." These will need to be made and attached by adults.
-One large pinecone per child
-White glue
Make It!
Christmas crafts for preschool require a bit of prep work! In this case, all you have to do is cut out the hands and feet. If you're using the fabric caps, you'll need to set that up, too.
Give each child one pinecone, one cotton ball, white glue, one small pompom, two googly eyes, and one set of hands and feet. Begin by putting glue on the googly eyes and sticking them near the top of the pinecone. Next glue the small pompom below the eyes to make a nose.
Spread glue on the surface of the felt "vest." Wrap it around the pine cone below the eyes and nose. Give it a few minutes to dry, then glue the hands on either side and the feet to the bottom (although these are Christmas crafts for preschool children, you will probably have to help with this step).
Stretch the cotton ball to make it fuzzy and glue it below the nose for a fuzzy beard. Stand back to check out your pinecone elf!
Other Ideas
-Give the kids sparkly glue and let them decorate the pinecones while they attach the pieces
-Hot glue golden or silver cords to the elf's head to create a tree ornament
-Hot glue several pinecones together and create a pinecone "Santa Claus" to go with all your little elves! It makes a great display.
